I thought I was a good manager, and wanted to give it a try in a highly competitive industry with ultra-low margins. It would be easier to come up with a list of things I didnt learn! Volaris From the minute he walked through the doors of Volaris Samara offices, Tayo, MIT Sloan MBA 14, was reminded that he was at one of Latin Americas youngest, fastest growing, and most successful airlines. There were planes hanging from the ceiling. Meeting tables were airplane tires stacked on top of each other and covered in glass. Meeting seats were actual airplane seats taken from cabins of old planes. Medicine balls everywhere. The message was clear Volaris believes in hard work, collaboration, and fun. All were elements of Tayos main project, Dynamic Currency Conversion, a system that allows international customers to pay with their native debit or credit cards. The technology transfers the 3% + currently charged to cardholders by Visa and MasterCard for currency conversion to Volaris. In return the consumer gets transparency and convenience. For a low cost airline, every extra cent of profit counts. Managers told me DCC would add at most 1.5% to the bottom line. There was a lot of skepticism. The project required that Tayo research the top DCC providers in the world. He took calls from vendors in Brazil, Ireland, the US, and Mexico. The best part was my model projecting Volaris earnings for the next 8 years. For airlines, that means forecasting plane purchases, demand for new routes, load factor per route, max willingness to pay for tickets and luggagea lot of forecasting based on data and calculated assumption. This could have many reasons, but mainly it is due to a lack of technology, and science needed to operate such stations. When the power plant had to undergo a special test, to make sure that sufficient amount of cooling water would be supplied to the reactor in case of a power outage. However, the test had been delayed, because the national grid required the power output more than the expected time. Hence, the test was postponed after midnight where the night shift had to come. The night shift had little experience about such a test as most of them were electrical engineers rather than nuclear. However, one should also avoid insisting on a misleading 0. For example, when plotting the temperature history of Boston, it makes no sense to start the plot at 0  K, since 0 K is far removed from physically obtainable values and will only obscure the actual range of variation. In general, if one needs to use an offset 0, it is advantageous to use labels that are large enough that the offset is legible in the thumbnail. - Abuse of the X-axis The rightmost of these two graphs was snipped from the trough of the leftmost graph. It would be misleading to use the rightmost snippet to claim to represent data during this time period. Manipulation of the graphs X-axis can also mislead; see the graph to the right. I could see these values from parts where the good police men would commit small crimes and go unpunished. There is also a scene that you do not see anything, but it is implied that the main character had premarital sex with two girls. The two main characters were Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. Ben Stiller played the part of David Starsky and Owen Wilson played Ken Hutchinson. I thought they were very suitable characters for the part because this movie being a comedy fit them very well as humorous people. Ben Stiller has been in Zoolander, Meet the Parents, and a few others. He is a very prominent comedy star in Hollywood. Owen Wilson, also a famous comedy star has also played in Zoolander, Shanghai Knights, and other movies. I enjoyed the movie very much and I would suggest it for those wanting to see an enjoyable, fairly clean comedy.
